Get a 4x8 sheet of 3 4 exterior grade pressure treated plywood.
Barred owls prefer to nest in lowland mature forest areas.
You can then use a protractor or a string to draw the top oval.
We ve been working on nest boxes for a number of years and have come up with what we think is a pretty good barred owl nest box design.
You ll want to be able to access it in the future to remove any unwanted debris or animals out of it like squirrels.
We elected to use birch as it is stronger and more weather resistant than pine board.
The entire owl box can be created from four 2 foot by 4 foot panels of 3 4 plywood sections or two 4 4 foot sections.
