If you prefer all four legs may also rest completely on the rug surface. Leggy furniture should have four on the floor or rug all dining chairs should be able to scoot in and out while staying on the rug.

We recommend sticking with all legs on the rug for this room for safety s sake. In the living room in a living room the rug helps define the space. A 6 x 9 rug allows a little more room to show on either side of the bed plus a little more at the foot of the bed. Living room rugs should fit under the couch and chairs.
